What is bio urbanism?

Actually, several architects, engineers, researchers, citizens and constructors are interrogating over the bio urbanism, which is a contemporary concept with very ancient roots.

Basically, it studies the characteristics and development of traditional housing, as well as the ackward efforts of new technologies trying to introduce nature in our towns, villages and cities.

Recently, the International Society of Biourbanism, a scientific network for high quality research, theory making, education adn practice, has published in its platform a very interesting article about the work of the architect Besim Hackim, who studies the traditional towns of the Mediterranean basin.

As an architect and researcher, I wrote to Besim Hackim and he responded excited for knowing my researches over the moorish houses of the Albaicín of Granada. Then he proposed to me to publish into important journals of urbanism. Therefore, I have been researching by myself over the urban codes (ancient documents of laws and prescriptions) dealing with traditional roman, andalusian and greek techniques of construction and neighbouring relationships. It seemed really interesting and it was clear to me that this knowledge can be employed nowadays in the cases of new planning, used to create sustainable towns.

The page will also publish news about the projects that the Constructive Living team will create together.
